Agent reveals Spurs-linked striker was subject of Premier League offer in January

Vedat Muriqi’s agent Haluk Canatar has revealed that Burnley made an offer for the striker during the January transfer window.

We have relayed a number of reports from the Turkish press over the past couple of weeks which have indicated that Muriqi could be a subject of interest of the North London club this summer.

Fanatik (via Sport Witness) have suggested that the 24-year-old is keen to complete a move to Spurs and link up with Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham have seemingly been tracking the Kosovan international for a number of months with the club having said to have sent scouts to watch him score during Kosovo’s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic last September (Sabah).

It turns out Spurs were not the only Premier League club who wanted Muriqi in January with the striker’s agent revealing that Burnley made an offer for the Fenerbache star.

In an interview to Turkish TV Channel A Spor, Canatar said: “Vedat is having a good season, he’s happy with his progress at Fenerbahce.

“His profile suits the bigger leagues. In January, Burnley made an official offer, which I forwarded to Fenerbahce. But Fener said they have no plans to let him go, and the case was closed.”

The striker’s agent also revealed that multiple clubs from across Europe are vying for the centre-forward’s signature in the summer.

He added: “For the summer, I’m receiving calls from clubs from England, Italy and Germany and I’m sharing this information with Fenerbahce. It’s not appropriate for me to say who these clubs are.”

West Brom are also said to have prioritised a move for Muriqi if they win promotion back to the Premier League (Fanatik via Tribal Football).

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising to me that Premier League clubs are all vying for Muriqi’s signature. The striker has all the attributes to succeed in English football. Although he isn’t prolific in front of goal, he is currently one of the best strikers in Europe in holding the ball up and bringing others into play. He has the characteristics that Mourinho likes in centre-forwards.
