Agent rules out exit for Tottenham’s £11m man this month

Victor Wanyama’s agent has distanced the midfielder away from a possible exit from Tottenham Hotspur this month.

Speculation in the Daily Mail had linked the Kenyan midfielder with a switch to Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion.

Wanyama has been plagued with knee problems over the past couple of seasons which has seen has career come to a halt.

The 27-year-old has a revelation in his first season at Spurs following his £11million switch from Southampton in June 2016 (Guardian).

However, his agent has claimed that he will not be joining Serie A giants Roma during the current transfer window.

“There is no possibility of Victor leaving Tottenham in January, but we’ll see after that,” agent Ivan Modia Yanez told LaRoma24.it.

“I have not had contact with Monchi regarding this issue.”

Wanyama last played for Spurs during the 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in early November and is still undergoing on-field rehabilitation with no return date in mind.

Wanyama has made 78 appearances for the club since his switch with 47 of those coming in his first season at the club.

With doubts increasing over the future of Mousa Dembele, if Wanyama could keep fit he would provide some extra cover to the likes of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Harry Winks in the heart of the Spurs midfield.
