Ajax confirm reported Spurs target will be leaving this summer

Tottenham Hotspur will surely be looking to splash the cash this summer after a signing-less spell of over 15 months.

Spurs last purchased a player back in January 2018, but still sold first-team star Mousa Dembele this season.

However, one man Tottenham reportedly have their eye on will definitely be leaving this summer, and that’s coming from his own club.

Ajax boss Marc Overmars told De Telegraaf that Hakim Ziyech will be leaving the club in this transfer window due to promises made at the beginning of the season.

He said: “He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League. Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim that we would agree if there is a good transfer.”

The 26-year-old scored 21 goals and racked up 24 assists across all competitions this season, and was an integral part of the team that not only reached the Champions League semi-finals, but also helped Ajax to scoop a Netherlands Cup and Eredivisie title.

Ziyech reportedly has a £25m release clause in his contract (Metro), and the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Man United, and Arsenal are all interested (BBC).

However, Spurs have also been linked with the player (Calcio Mercato), and he could be a popular figure at White Hart Lane after missing a host of chances against Spurs in the CL semi-final second leg.

Spurs Web Opinion:

If the reported interest is true, then Ziyech will probably end up leaving for far more than £25m. However, if the player is keen on a move to Spurs, and a price in the region of £25m-£35m can be reached, then I would be a huge fan of signing him up. Having Ziyech, Moura, and Son as winger options would give Spurs far more depth and a scary amount of goal scoring talent.
