Ajax man takes dig at Spurs over Champions League final against Liverpool

Ahead of Ajax’s Champions League group clash against Liverpool, which the Reds ended up winning 1-0, Dusan Tadic claimed that the Eredivisie side would have had a better chance of beating Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 2019 Champions League final than Spurs.

Lucas Moura’s second-half hat-trick in the Champions League semi-final at the Johan Cruyff Arena that took the Lilywhites to their first-ever final, will be remembered fondly by Spurs fans for a long time.

The moment is also one that the Ajax players and fans will find hard to forget, as it looked like they had one foot in Madrid at half-time.

This is not the first time Tadic has made such a claim about the final, admitting in an interview to The Telegraph last year he could not bear to watch the final and that Ajax would have played better than the Lilywhites.

The former Southampton man has once again made a similar claim this week when asked about coming up against Liverpool.

Speaking to Goal.com, the Serbian international said: “It would have been nice to play against [Liverpool] in the [2019 Champions League] final.

“It is difficult to play against them (but) a larger chance than Tottenham for sure.

“I played against Liverpool too often, it was always difficult. They put on a lot of pressure with fast football, they are.”
