Tottenham Hotspur stars, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, and Christian Eriksen have a number of things in common.
They all have under a year remaining on their current Spurs contracts, meaning that they stand to leave the club on a free in the summer of 2020 if no new deals are agreed.
All three players can also talk to non-English clubs as early as January about a pre-contract agreement for a move in the summer.
Not only this, but the trio all boast the same former club on their CV in the form of Dutch giants Ajax, Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final opponents last season.
Toby, Jan, and Eriksen all played for Ajax in their youth, and one current star at the club would like to see them return in the near future.
When asked which players he would like to see return to Ajax, Daley Blind named all three Tottenham boys, even revealing that he had talked to Vertonghen about the possibility recently.
Blind said (Ajax Showtime): “You naturally think of Suarez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen or Eriksen. I think the Tottenham boys are almost approaching the end of their contract.
“One of those three would certainly be an asset. I have spoken to Jan Vertonghen in the past year about what he thinks about it. It is up to him how he deals with it.”
