Alan Brazil suggests transfer merry-go-round involving Spurs and Man City

Alan Brazil has suggested that Harry Kane could join Manchester City in the summer of 2024 if Erling Haaland completes a switch to Real Madrid.

Over the past few days, multiple outlets have played down the chances of Kane joining Manchester United this summer.

ESPN reported on Monday that the Red Devils are hesitant to get involved in protracted negotiations with Daniel Levy over the striker, and they do not want the deal to drag into the final few days of the transfer window, which is why they might pursue Victor Osimhen or Dusan Vlahovic instead.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports reported on Thursday that Spurs have no intention of selling the England captain this summer irrespective of where they finish or whether he signs a new deal.

The report added that the 29-year-old’s future might still be unresolved going into the next January transfer window.

Brazil has now suggested that Kane could leave on a free transfer at the end of the 2023-24 season and suggested that Man City could still be a realistic destination for the Spurs star.

He told talkSPORT Breakfast (15/03/23): “Would Spurs be right to hang onto Harry Kane, even if he then leaves for free.

“This is the big question. That’s what we are hearing.

“If he doesn’t sign the contract, just sits it out, then he goes for free.

“Am I out of order just looking ahead thinking ‘what if Haaland went to Real Madrid at the end of the year and Harry went to Manchester City (for free)? Money, money, money.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It does not make too much sense to speculate over what will happen in 2024 as a lot of variables could change before that point.

If we make some smart acquisitions this summer and get our next managerial appointment right, we could even be competing with the best teams in the country next season.

Arsenal rise this season is evidence that we are not as far away from competing for a league title as some fans and pundits tend to think.
