Alan Hutton raves about this Spurs man’s performance at Liverpool – ‘Arguably man of the match’

Tottenham Hotspur were back in action in the Premier League on Sunday and back to losing ways after a temporary return to form against Red Star Belgrade.

Spurs took the lead inside one minute when Son’s shot deflected onto the crossbar and fell for an in-form Harry Kane to head home.

Unfortunately for Pochettino, his side then sank back and attempted to defend that lead, with Liverpool launching attack after attack into the Tottenham box.

Sonny actually had the change to put his side 2-0 up when he took it round the keeper and hit the bar, after which the Reds fought back and scored two to seal all three points.

In truth, the result would have likely been a cricket score (or a Bayern Munich score) if not for the heroics of Paulo Gazzaniga who made 12 saves during the match.

The Argentine was in for an injured Hugo Lloris and he certainly did his own reputation no harm.

Ex-Tottenham man, Alan Hutton, was impressed, to say the least (Football Insider): “He was brilliant, arguably give him man of the match – definitely on the Tottenham side. He’s come in a little bit out of the cold with Lloris’ injury and he’s really grabbed it.

“Let’s not kid ourselves, Lloris was having a bit of a tough spell himself. For him (Gazzaniga) to come in and put in the displays that he has, he’s really claiming for the number one spot.

“For Gazzaniga to come in and play so well, so quickly, I think he’s only going to grow in confidence. Hopefully he can keep his form up, obviously, I want them to see them doing well so I want him to play well. If he keeps his form up I can’t see how he can be dropped at the turn of the year.”
