Alan Shearer has his say on whether Spurs are still in the title race

Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to temporarily close the gap to just two points behind Liverpool and Man City this weekend.

This gap would have been pushed out to three off the lead after Liverpool scraped a draw at Old Trafford, however Spurs were unable to get the job done.

They travelled to Turf Moor with Harry Kane back in the starting line up, but fell to a 2-1 loss against Sean Dyche’s men.

Harry Kane was on the score sheet, but it wasn’t enough to grab a point for his side, yet alone all three.

Spurs now sit six points off the pace, with Liverpool leading the pack again, and eleven games remaining in the season.

Tottenham also face both Chelsea and Arsenal this week, as well as trips away to Man City and Liverpool before the end of the season.

It would taking something close to a miracle for the Lilywhites to come through and scoop the title now, but you never know.

Well, Alan Shearer actually claims he always knew (Sun): “I don’t think there was ever a serious title threat from Tottenham and I never thought they would win it.”
