Alan Shearer has named Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie and Son Heung-min in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Son had what was arguably his worst season for Tottenham in 2022-23 but the forward is well and truly back to his best season, having stepped up following Harry Kane’s departure last summer.
The South Korean has 17 goal contributions (12 goals and five assists) in 20 Premier League matches while his leadership has also been a crucial factor for what is now an experienced Spurs side.
Shearer told GiveMeSport about the Tottenham captain: “He’s a special talent. When he gets the ball in front of goal, I have no doubt he will score.”
Udogie and Vicario have taken to the Premier League
Meanwhile, Udogie has been one of the surprise packages of the season so far, looking completely at home in the Premier League and in Ange Postecoglou’s system since day one.
The left-back has even been rewarded with a new contract by Spurs and is seemingly on his way to becoming one of the best in the world in his position.
The Newcastle legend said about the Italy international: “An exciting young player. His pace has been invaluable in Spurs’ high line and he has been effective going forward too.”
Udogie’s compatriot, Vicario, has also hit the ground running at the North London club, with the 27-year-old not appearing to have any weaknesses in his game.
Shearer said about Tottenham’s number one: “Spurs’ brave style under Ange Postecoglou means he faces lots of shots and also has to play out from the back under pressure. He has excelled in both areas.”

The likes of James Maddison, Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero might have also been in with a shout for the Team of the Season had they managed to steer clear of injuries and suspensions. One can even make a case for Pedro Porro and Pape Matar Sarr to be in contention.
