Alan Shearer picks 22-year-old Spurs star in his PL Team of the Week

Alan Shearer has picked Ryan Sessegnon in his Premier League Team of the Week following the Tottenham star’s display against Fulham on Saturday.

Antonio Conte made five changes to his starting lineup for Fulham’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero coming back into the XI and summer signings Clement Lenglet and Richarlison making their first starts.

The Lilywhites demonstrated their strength-in-depth as they dominated proceedings from start to finish, with the 2-1 score line flattering the Cottagers in the end.

Sessegnon proved a threat down the left-hand side throughout the 90 minutes and provided the assist for Harry Kane’s second-half goal.

The former Fulham man was the only Spurs player to make it into Shearer’s Team of the Week for Matchday 6.

Meanwhile, Garth Crooks also picked just one Tottenham player in his Team of the Week but he gave the nod to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who opened the scoring for the Lilywhites on Saturday (BBC Sport).

Sessegnon has certainly shown in the three starts he has made this season that he can be a threat in the opposition box, which is what Conte expects of his wing-backs.

While it is still early days, it seems like the increased competition with Ivan Perisic is bringing the best out of the former Fulham man.
