Alan Shearer send heaps of praise to one Spurs player

Tottenham Hotspur inched past London rivals West Ham yesterday, beating the Hammers by one goal to nil in an extremely tight affair.

The game was very even from start to finish, with West Ham edging it on chances produced, despite losing the game.

Tottenham’s three points propelled them up to joint third with Chelsea, just two points behind leaders Man City and Liverpool.

The man who proved to be the difference in the game was one Erik Lamela, who simply can’t stop scoring at the moment.

In the absence of chief playmaker Christian Eriksen, Lamela has really stepped up in his role in this Spurs team.

The Argentine has now scored seven goals in his last nine games, a true testament to his incredible form.

Lamela managed to flick home a headed goal against the Hammers after a delightful cross from Moussa Sissoko, who is also in a good run of form.

Ex-England legend Alan Shearer heaped praise on Lamela during Match of the Day, with Football London reporting he said: “Impressive. Lamela on his first league start of the season was the difference, particularly in the first half. He produced some wonderful bits of skill, his first touch was exemplary, bringing people into the game and everything that was good about Tottenham on the ball he seemed to be at the heart of that.

“Confidence, skill, belief on the ball, one v one, trickery, he had all of it.

“He was full of confidence, full of belief, did his bit defensively as well, when Tottenham lost the ball, didn’t give up, got it back and Tottenham are then on the break again.
