Alasdair Gold admits he expects Argentine to leave before window closes

Football journalist Alasdair Gold has revealed that he still expects Paulo Gazzaniga to complete a loan move to Elche this evening.

The 29-year-old had been Hugo Lloris’ understudy for the past couple of seasons but has found himself down to third in the pecking order following the summer arrival of Joe Hart.

Gazzaniga was also not ncluded in the Europa League squad by Jose Mourinho due to the club’s large volume of non-homegrown players.

Elche are currently 19th in La Liga after 19 games and are one point off the bottom spot.

The Argentine has previous experience of playing in Spain having featured 34 times in all competitions for Rayo Vallecano (transfermarkt).

Gazzaniga would not be the first goalkeeper to leave on loan in the current transfer window after Brandon Austin completed a switch to MLS side Brandon Orlando City, which will see him remain with the Florida-based side until their season ends in December.
