Alasdair Gold claims Spurs are expected to sign player despite some reports

Contrary to the various reports that have emerged from Italy over recent days, Alasdair Gold has said that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign Dejan Kulusevski permanently this summer.

Kulusevski‘s loan spell at Spurs is set to come to an end this summer, with the Lilywhites having the option to make the deal permanent for £30.4m (Fabrizio Romano).

CalcioMercatoWeb reported a few days ago that Tottenham have already decided that they will not be taking up that option since they have not been convinced by the Swede’s performances this season.

The publication stated that the player is thus expected to return to Turn this summer and that he might be on the move again as he is not part of Juventus‘ plans.

It was suggested that Kulusevski could extend his contract at the Allianz Stadium this summer before being loaned out to AC Milan.

However, Gold has now suggested that as things stand, the expectation is for Spurs to activate the option to sign the winger permanently.

The journalist explained that Tottenham’s intention to follow through with the deal is the reason why they have splashed the former Atalanta star’s image over promotion material for Spurs’ pre-season trip to Thailand.

Even though Kulusevski’s displays have been under par this season, there is no doubt that he remains a bargain for £30m.

Even if the next Spurs manager does not see the Swede as an automatic starter, it would still be a no-brainer for the North London club to take up the option to sign him permanently.
