Alasdair Gold claims Spurs defender looked ‘furious’ with Ndombele against Morecambe

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Eric Dier ‘looked furious’ with Tanguy Ndombele’s actions while being substituted during Tottenham’s FA Cup win over Morecambe.

The French midfielder was handed a rare start by Antonio Conte in a heavily rotated line-up that emerged with a 3-1 win against the League One side.

However, with Spurs trailing 1-0 to Morecambe midway through the second half, Ndombele was one of a triple change made by Conte in a bid to change the flow of the game.

Ndombele laboured on his exit from the pitch which drew a chorus of boos from every corner of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he ventured straight down the tunnel.

But it wasn’t just the fans who were left unimpressed, with Gold noticing the disappointed reactions of the absent Dier, Heung-min Son, Sergio Reguilon and Cristian Romero from the Spurs sideline.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “That was the other thing as well, you could see on the bench. As he [Ndombele] walked by, I could see them down there when I was looking at him and in the photos afterwards.

“You could see Sonny, Dier, Romero and Reguilon and they were all looking at him. Dier looked furious and they were looking at him like, ‘No…'”

It takes a lot for Spurs fans to boo one of their own players, but unfortunately for Ndombele, he drew that reaction onto himself.

If the team is trailing, you leave the pitch as quick as possible and he didn’t do that, so frustrations boiled over. It’s not a good look that his teammates weren’t impressed either.
