Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘little bit of interest in’ Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz this summer.
Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on signing a striker who can play through the middle as well as out wide (The Telegraph).
Spurs have been linked with some high-profile names over recent weeks including Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus (The Evening Standard) and Everton’s Richarlison (UOL).
On Thursday, reports emerged that the North London club could make a mammoth offer for Luataro Martinez to test Inter Milan’s resolve (Alfredo Pedulla).
Gold has now revealed that Tottenham also have their eye on a Championship marksman in the former of Diaz.
The Blackburn star, who played across the front three during the 2021/22 campaign, notched up 22 goals over the course of the season (Transfermarkt).
Gold revealed that the 23-year-old is valued at around £15m, and that Spurs could face competition from the likes of West Ham and Leeds for the striker this summer.
The journalist said on his YouTube YouTube channel: “Spurs have a little bit of interest in Blackburn’s Ben Brereton-Diaz.
“From what I understand, I don’t think there’s been any contact in the last few months. I wonder if that gets resurrected this summer.
“Last year of his contract, he is homegrown. Leeds, West Ham, few La Liga clubs looking at him. We’re talking between £13m and £15m for him. He would probably be okay with being back-up.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I believe Antonio Conte would want to bring in a forward who he feels can challenge for a place in his starting eleven next season. So, although Brereton Diaz could be a decent backup for Kane, I would be surprised if he is anywhere near the top of Tottenham’s wishlist.
