Alasdair Gold claims Spurs player is now ‘expected to head off this summer’

Football London journalist, Alasdair Gold has claimed that Erik Lamela is now expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

It is fair to say that Erik Lamela has never quite been able to set North London on fire since arriving at the club eight years ago. The Argentine came as a Bale replacement and stayed long enough to see the Welshman return and then leave again.

Unfortunately, although Lamela possesses an abundance of talent and a superb work rate, he has always been let down by a lack of consistency and injuries.

With just 12 months left on his current contract, Lamela is reportedly expected to leave the club before next season if a decent bid comes in. The midfielder apparently has admirers back in Serie A, with Spurs signing him from Roma almost a decade ago.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It is definitely time for Lamela to move on but I don’t see him as a waste of money. He never made it as a consistent first-team player but has been a good squad option for the best part of eight years.
