Alasdair Gold claims Spurs transfer plans could lead to player loan deal

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign a striker this summer, with Troy Parrott likely to be loaned out again.

It remains to be seen whether Harry Kane will still be at Tottenham next season, with the England captain reported to be on radars of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Some sources had previously indicated that Spurs are likely to loan Parrott out to a Championship club irrespective of whether Kane stays or leaves.

Alasdair Gold has now claimed that Tottenham do not expect Kane to depart the club this summer.

The journalist revealed that the North Londoners are looking to sign a striker who can serve as the 27-year-old’s backup after deciding not to make Carlos Vinicius’ loan deal permanent.

He explains that Parrott is thus not likely to get much game time at the club next season and that he could be set for another loan after his spells at Millwall and Ipswich last season.

However, Gold also adds that new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is only expected to make a decision on the 19-year-old’s future after taking a closer look at him around the training ground.

Spurs Web Opinion

One should not read too much into Parrott’s struggles at Millwall and Ipswich last season as that can happen to young players when they are suddenly thrust into new surroundings.

Even Harry Kane did not make the best of impressions during his loan spells as a youngster but exploded into life when he was around 21. The same could happen with Parrott and we thus need to be patient with him and allow him to develop at his own pace.
