Alasdair Gold claims Tottenham are monitoring PL star ahead of January

Tottenham Hotspur are still monitoring Everton’s Anthony Gordon ahead of the January transfer window, according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold

The 21-year-old was highly sought-after in the summer, with bids from both Spurs (Lyall Thomas) and Chelsea (Sky Sports) reportedly being rejected by Everton.

It was believed that Gordon was keen on a move, and according to Football Insider, Spurs were still trying to thrash out a deal as the summer transfer window came to a close.

The youngster had something of a breakthrough season last year, making 40 appearances for Everton across all competitions, with four goals and three assists to his name (Transfermarkt) as the Toffees clung on to their top-flight status.

Everton may be struggling for consistency this term once again, but Gordon is still racking up impressive numbers with three goals in 15 games this season (Transfermarkt).

Now, it appears Tottenham have not given up in their pursuit of the talented attacker, and Football.London understands the North London are continuing to monitor him.

The report states: “Gordon still has three years left on his contract with the Toffees and his value has remained steady with suggestions in the summer that Everton would only hold out for a similar price tag to the one that saw Richarlison make the switch to Spurs.”

While it’s clear that “any move for Gordon will be far more difficult in the January transfer window rather than next summer,” it is thought that “Tottenham will continue to monitor his situation in case an opportunity arises.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I can’t quite work Anthony Gordon out. He’s clearly a very talented young lad and his output for Everton is pretty impressive, especially given how poor they’ve been as a whole. But, whether he is the right target for Spurs to pursue, and at such a high price tag, I’m not entirely sure.
