Alasdair Gold confirms one name Spurs are looking at as January option

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly continuing to look at Atalanta attacker Ruslan Malinovskyi as one of a number of potential attacking options, according to a new report from Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.

Malinovskyi was a standout performer in Serie A last season, scoring ten goals and providing seven assists in 41 games for Atalanta across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

The Ukraine international was tracked by Spurs over the summer but a switch to North London failed to materialise (TMW).

It’s been a frustrating first half of the season for the versatile midfielder, who has seen his game time limited at Atalanta. Malinovskyi has just 14 appearances this term, with one goal and two assists, though most of his appearances have come from the bench (Transfermarkt).

Marco Conterio claims Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have agreed that Malinovskyi is a key target for the upcoming transfer window.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport (16/11/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) has given Spurs hope too, reporting that his restricted playing time may lead to Malinovskyi leaving Atalanta soon. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, there could be a deal struck on a loan-to-buy-option in January.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reports that Tottenham have looked at Malinovskyi as ‘one of a number of options to bolster Conte’s attacking numbers’, and he could prove to be a cheaper signing as his contract is up in the summer.

Any move for the 29-year-old is seen as Conte’s preference to look “at the other end of the experience scale,” for players who are ready to slot straight into his first team.

Spurs Web Opinion

The talk of Ruslan Malinovskyi coming to Spurs seems to be intensifying day by day, which is hopefully a good sign. The player is clearly unhappy with how things are going at Atalanta, and he fits the bill perfectly for the kind of player we need at Spurs, so here’s hoping a deal can be arranged soon.
