Alasdair Gold denies reports doing the rounds about Eric Dier transfer at Spurs

While Eric Dier is being lined with a move to Saudi Arabia by some sources, Alasdair Gold has insisted that there is no truth to those reports.

It perhaps did not come as a surprise that Dier was snubbed by Ange Postecoglou when the Australian was deciding on his new captain and vice-captain, with Son Heung-min being handed the armband while Cristian Romero and James Maddison were selected as his deputies.

That is perhaps a clear sign that the Australian does not expect the experienced defender to be a key part of his backline during the upcoming season.

In fact, Dier did not even have a place in Tottenham’s matchday squad for the club’s opening game of the season against Brentford on Saturday.

It has been suggested by BBC Arabic reporter Mohamed Alkaoud that the Spurs defender is being pursued by Saudi side, Al-Nassr.

However, Alasdair Gold subsequently took to social media to rubbish those reports on Sunday evening.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Dier having just a year left on his contract, I would not be surprised if Tottenham are putting pressure on the centre-back to leave this summer. However, I do not think the 29-year-old would consider moving to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career.
