Alasdair Gold has revealed via Football.London that Ange Posteoclgou allows his coaching staff to run training drills after comprehensively briefing them on what needs to be done.
The club confirmed last week that Chris Davies will join as senior assistant coach while Ryan Mason, Matt Wells and Mile Jedinak will join Postecoglou’s backroom team as assistant coaches.
The Australian and his team have been meeting the non-international Spurs players over the last few days and putting them through pre-season drills, and Gold has now detailed how exactly they work.
Postecoglou puts a lot of trust in his coaching staff
He explains that Postecolgou has firmly briefed his staff on exactly what he wants them to get across to the players.
The 57-year-old then allegedly allows them to relay the messages to the players in whatever methods they choose while keeping a close eye on the drills.
Gold states that Postecolgou prowls around the fringes of the training sessions, watching and analysing everything going on, including his coaches’ methods and how the players are reacting.
He explains that the Tottenham boss even gives his staff individual responsibility for the more intensive development work with certain players.
Gold reveals that some of the players involved in the sessions so far have described the coaching staff put together at Tottenham as ‘brilliant’, with Mason, Davies, Wells and Jedinak said to have a similar view to Postecoglou regarding how the game should be played.
The journalist adds that the training sessions during the first few days of pre-season have been termed as ‘upbeat’ and ‘bright’ by the players involved.

The reason Postecoglou does not micromanage each training session might have to do with his leadership philosophy of maintaining some distance with the squad, so that certain messages of his will have maximum impact on the players.
