Alasdair Gold explains dilemma Spurs face regarding Bryan Gil this summer

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has explained that Tottenham Hotspur face a dilemma on whether to cash in on Bryan Gil this summer or send him out on loan again.

After struggling for game time at Spurs during the first half of the campaign, Gil has displayed during his loan spell in Valencia just why he is so highly rated.

It has been suggested by Tribuna Deportiva that the La Liga club are keen on extending the winger’s loan spell at the club while The Daily Mail reported a few days ago that Spurs are open to selling the youngster permanently this summer.

Alasdair Gold has now stated that Gil is not in Antonio Conte’s plans as the Italian does not think the 21-year-old is suited to the intensity and the physicality of the Premier League.

He explains that Spurs could thus sell the winger so they can recoup the fee they paid for him last summer, and use it to strengthen the squad.

However, the journalist suggests that another loan spell away from Tottenham would help increase Gil’s market value, while the North Londoners would also have to consider the prospect that Conte might not be their head coach in the future.

Gold adds that Tottenham’s decision on the former Sevilla man might come down to the kind of offers they receive for him this summer, with plenty of clubs said to be eyeing a move for the Spain international.

Whether or not Gil adapts to the Premier League, what is evident is that the youngster’s ceiling is high. So, even if Spurs do not see the 21-year-old as part of their long-term plans, it would be in the North London club’s best interest to loan him out back to Valencia or another Spanish club. Gil’s market value is only likely to increase if he spends another full season on loan in La Liga.
