Alasdair Gold has stated in his column for Football.London that the Tottenham players are excited about the type of football that Ange Postecoglou will bring to the club.
Tottenham may not have kicked a ball yet competitively since Postecoglou took over but the Australian’s impact at the club has already been apparent.
The club’s two new signings, Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison, both spoke about the impact of their conversation with the Australian, with the attacking midfielder’s words, in particular, generating a lot of excitement among Spurs fans.
Maddison said in his first official interview with the club’s channel: “He (Ange) said one thing to me on the call, I hope he won’t mind me saying this, but he said, ‘whether you come or not, you’re going to see a completely different Spurs team under me’, and that kind of stuck with me that he said that. I thought ‘wow there’s that same self-belief that I’ve got in myself’.”
The Tottenham squad are excited about Postecoglou
Gold has now explained that Postescoglou’s arrival has also excited many of the current squad at Tottenham, who are said to be looking forward to playing the kind of relentless front-foot style of possession-based football that the 56-year-old wants to implement.
The journalist adds that the club’s hierarchy are hoping that Harry Kane feels similarly when the new Spurs head coach speaks to the striker on his return from holiday on June 12.
He states Levy and co are hoping that the England captain might be swayed to stay and play in a Postecoglou team so that he can feast on the chances galore that will be created during the upcoming season.
Spurs Web Opinion
Postecoglou is not as big a name as the likes of Mourinho and Conte but one should not underestimate his chances of convincing Kane about the project at Spurs.
The Australian is evidently a fantastic communicator and he will certainly choose the right words to try and persuade the centre-forward that it is worth seeing what the current project at the North London club has to offer.
