Alasdair Gold explains issue Spurs face even if Paratici’s appeal is successful

Alasdair Gold has revealed that even if Fabio Paratici’s appeal against his ban proves successful, the Italian will still be subject to other investigations over the coming months.

Following Juventus’ capital gains trial in Italy back in January, the Serie A club were hit with a 15-point deduction, with Paratici handed a 30-month ban from Italian football for his involvement (Gianluca Di Marzio).

Last month, FIFA accepted the Italian authorities’ request to extend the Tottenham managing director’s ban to all leagues across the world (Sky Sports News).

That left Tottenham little choice but to part ways with the 50-year-old, with the club subsequently confirming that he had taken an immediate leave of absence pending the outcome of his appeal, which will be heard in court today.

Gold has now revealed that Paratici and the other Juventus officials involved in the scandal are confident that the appeal will be successful.

However, the journalist explained that the 50-year-old would still be subject to further investigations, including one by UEFA.

Gold said on a Q&A on Football.London: “Juventus certainly seem confident but they did ahead of the original hearing which resulted in bans galore, some extended globally by FIFA.

“The problem for Fabio Paratici and in turn Tottenham is that even if this appeal is successful there are further investigations, the Prism one and UEFA launched their own one, which will be hanging around. It’s not a great situation.”

It appears as if Paratici is likely to resume his role at Tottenham if his appeal is successful, even though the Italian faces the prospect of further investigations.

In fact, it seems as if the 50-year-old is the one that Levy has entrusted with finding a replacement for Antonio Conte.
