Alasdair Gold explains the goalkeeping situation at Tottenham

Alasdair Gold has reported that Tottenham are reluctant to sell Hugo Lloris this summer despite the fact that he is entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Lloris is currently away with France playing in the European Championships but, when he returns, he could be playing his final year in North London.

Gold has claimed that Spurs do not want to sell their World Cup-winning captain as he was one of the club’s best players last season and it would, therefore, cost a lot of money to replace his quality.

Funds are said to be in short supply this summer and Spurs have other positions on their wishlist, while a sale of Lloris is also said to be unlikely to bring in huge money anyway.

Gold added that it currently remains unclear as to whether Lloris will want to sign an extension with Spurs.

The report finally claims that Paratici and Fonseca will have to make a decision on whether to promote one of Alfie Whiteman or Brandon Austin or sign a new third-choice keeper for next season.
