Alasdair Gold explains what Spurs are saying about renewed Nagelsmann links

Alasdair Gold has taken to YouTube (00:50) to explain that Tottenham Hotspur are still insisting there is ‘nothing in’ the Julian Nagelsmann rumours, despite renewed links this week.

This comes after The Times reported at the start of the weekend that Julian Nagelsmann is back in the running to take over in North London, despite claims to the contrary.

The report claimed that talks had resumed between the two parties and that Nagelsmann wants assurances on who the next sporting director will be.

It is even said that Nagelsmann has suggested some possible names to Daniel Levy ahead of the appointment this summer, following the exit of Fabio Paratici.

Reports earlier this month stated that Nagelsmann was no longer a target for Spurs because they do not see him as the right fit (Evening Standard) and are worried it is too soon after his Bayern Munich exit (SportBILD).

Spurs apparently wanted to get ahead of the rumours and shut them down to avoid future fan disappointment (BBC), but the Telegraph also hinted the Lilywhites could return to Nagelsmann if the new sporting director likes him.

The latest twist in the saga has been met by a big ‘who knows’ from Alasdair Gold, so we will have to watch this space.

Spurs Web Opinion:

There are so many angles to a deal and so many agendas, you can never know who is really saying what and why they are saying it.

However, I do feel like Arne Slot is by far the more realistic and likely target this summer.
