Alasdair Gold explains what Spurs now expect to happen with Harry Kane this summer

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that the current feeling within Tottenham Hotspur is that Harry Kane ‘is less likely’ to leave the club this summer.

The speculation over Harry Kane‘s future continues to intensify as we approach the summer transfer window, with the print edition of AS (29/05/23 via Sport Witness) revealing on Sunday that the striker’s entourage have decided to seek a move away from Tottenham this summer.

The outlet asserted that the England captain is Real Madrid‘s preferred target for the number nine role, with Los Blancos alleged to view him as a ‘safe bet’.

The publication added that the La Liga giants expect Spurs to demand £100m for their talisman and that the North London club would prefer to sell him to an overseas club.

However, if Football.London and Alasdair Gold’s latest update is to be believed, as things stand, the feeling at Spurs is that Kane is not likely to leave the club this summer.

Instead, the striker is expected to give one more season to his boyhood club before assessing his future in the summer of 2024.

The report states that Tottenham continue to maintain that they have no intention of listening to offers for the 29-year-old.

The question is whether Tottenham would risk allowing Kane to run into the final year of his contract.

I suspect that Levy would be prepared to do that in the hope that the striker can be convinced to sign a new deal if the team shows signs of promise next season.

An alternative solution would be to perhaps offer Kane a new contract that contains a release clause of around £60m-£80m that would become active in the summer of 2024 in the event that the club finish outside the top four again next season.
