Alasdair Gold explains why Spurs could look to sell two foreign players today

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could be looking to move on two players before the transfer window shuts tonight as they have too many foreign players in the squad.

After the arrival of Carlos Vinicius, Spurs currently have 19 foreign players in their European squad, which is two too many according to UEFA’s rules.

This is not an issue in the Premier League as Matt Doherty and Ben Davies are considered homegrown.

Gold revealed that Spurs may have to leave players out of their Europa League squad if they do not move anyone on before the window closes.

He claimed that Spurs could look to sell Paulo Gazzaniga if they receive a decent offer before the deadline, with the Argentine now having fallen behind Joe Hart in the pecking order.

However, Gold does claim that Serge Aurier is likely to stay at North London beyond tonight’s deadline.

Meanwhile, he also added that Spurs could potentially look to sell or loan Danny Rose, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jack Clarke to EFL clubs even after today’s deadline, with Premier League clubs allowed to do business with EFL clubs for eleven more days.

Other than Gazzaniga, no other non-homegrown player really looks likely to leave today. So, it does look like Jose might be forced to leave one or two players out of the Europa League squad.
