Alasdair Gold gives insight on ‘positive’ meeting Conte had with Paratici and Levy

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed the meeting Antonio Conte had with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici was ‘a positive one for all sides’.

Conte has revealed that he spoke with the Spurs managing director of football and the Tottenham chairman to give his evaluation of the squad and discuss what the club needs moving forward.

Gold has now revealed that the meeting also involved technical performance director Steve Hitchen and that everyone was ‘content’ by what has laid out in the meeting.

The journalist said that Conte was ‘very candid’ over his views of the squad and the problems that need to be addressed.

Gold also stated that Paratici has been overtaking an appraisal of all football departments at the club with a view to raising the standards to the levels he experienced at Juventus.

It is explained the feeling at the club was that a new striker, a right-wing-back and a left-sided centre-back were needed but Conte also wanted a central midfielder to be brought in.

Gold has asserted that a midfielder, a striker and a wing-back are now Tottenham’s priorities in January, with the club said to wait till the summer to pursue a centre-back.

Gold is not the only one to report that Conte asked for a central midfielder in the meeting, with The Telegraph’s Matt Law also reporting the same. It will be interesting to see if Spurs accelerate their pursuit of Franck Kessie and look to hammer out a deal with Milan over the next couple of weeks rather than wait till the summer.
