Alasdair Gold gives opinion on Tottenham’s chances of signing Lautaro Martinez

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that it will be ‘extremely difficult’ for Tottenham Hotspur to snap up Lautaro Martinez this summer.

Spurs failed with an attempt to snap up Martinez during last summer’s transfer window (Express) and the forward subsequently signed a new contract with Inter until 2026.

Despite his new deal, some publications over recent months indicated that the Nerazzurri are open to cashing in on the 24-year-old this summer (TuttoSport).

Reports have indicated that Antonio Conte is keen on reuniting with the forward at Spurs (Inter Live) while Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the Inter star (The Times).

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed last week that Simone Inzaghi’s side would consider an offer of around £51m for Martinez this summer.

Gold has now revealed that both Conte and Fabio Paratici are fans of the Inter Milan star.

However, the journalist added that, following Martinez’s decision to put to paper on a new deal at the San Siro, it is expected to be ‘extremely difficult’ to prise the forward away from the Serie A side.

Spurs Web Opinion

Inter’s financial problems are well documented and so they will probably sell one or two of their stars this summer. Martinez is arguably their most valuable asset and so, I would not be surprised if they decided to cash in on him. I suspect that the Argentine is bound for the Premier League but I do not expect Spurs to win the race for him.
