Alasdair Gold has revealed that the people he has spoken to around Nottingham Forest have given mixed reviews regarding Brennan Johnson.
Reports over the last 48 hours have continued to indicate that Tottenham are keen on adding a wide forward to their squad before tomorrow’s 11 pm deadline, with Johnson remaining at the top of the club’s wishlist (Sky Sports).
Over the last few hours, multiple outlets, including The Telegraph and The Evening Standard, have claimed that an offer from Spurs for Wales international is now imminent.
The latter publication explained that while Forest continue to demand £50m for their starlet, Tottenham remain hopeful that they will soften their stance as we get closer to the deadline.
It is fair to say that the reaction to the Johnson pursuit has been lukewarm from some of the Spurs fan base, with many not being convinced that the 22-year-old is worth the high fees being reported.
Mixed reviews for Johnson out of Nottingham Forest
Gold revealed that those at Forest were also not unanimous in their appreciation of the attacker.
The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I’ve spoken to various people around Forest and it is interesting because there is a variety of opinions.
“Some say that he has a very high ceiling and he can become the player that I have spoken about, but others say that he just relies on his pace.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It has been widely reported that Postecoglou wants Johnson, which is why Tottenham are doing the right thing by backing the manager. There is no way Spurs would consider paying close to £50m for the 22-year-old if the Australian was not insisting on getting him.
