Alasdair Gold makes promising claim about Harry Kane and Spurs contract talks

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Harry Kane is happy to at least discuss new terms with Tottenham when the club come to the table.

Reports over Kane’s future at Tottenham seem to be cropping up nearly every day, with both Man Utd (Daily Mirror) and Bayern Munich (Independent) expected to test the waters for the striker when the transfer window reopens.

90 min claimed a couple of days ago that Tottenham will reassess negotiations with the 29-year-old over a new contract once they hire a head coach.

The publication explained that while the England captain was previously open to penning a new contract at Spurs, he is not ready to commit now since the landscape has changed.

It was asserted that the Lilywhites hierarchy will ‘not push for a decision’ from the striker until they confirm a new head coach.

However, Gold has now claimed that it is believed Kane would be happy to at least hold talks with Spurs regarding a new deal and remarked that the North London club have no intention of letting their talisman leave.

Speaking about how the new managerial hire will impact Kane’s future, the journalist said on a Q&A on Football.London: “There appears to be no intention from Spurs of letting Kane go this summer despite his current contract situation and the striker is believed to be happy to discuss new terms when the club come to the table.

“Having an exciting manager for the long term in their corner will only help their cause.”

Perhaps, Tottenham believe that they will be in a stronger negotiating position if they hire a world-class manager before beginning talks with Kane and his representatives.

The 29-year-old certainly has no reason to commit his future to the club until he sees which manager comes through the door and whether Spurs back the new man in the summer transfer window.
