Alasdair Gold names four goalkeepers on Spurs shortlist to replace Lloris

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold now revealed that Giorgi Mamardashvili, David Raya, Robert Sanchez and Mike Maignan are the four names at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to take over the gloves from Hugo Lloris.

Gold states that Spurs have been tracking Mamardashvili for a couple of years and even though the 22-year-old has a release clause of €‎100m (£88m) in his current contract with Valencia, the La Liga club would be willing to sell him for a much lower fee owing to their financial problems.

The journalist explains that Raya has already turned down two contract offers from Brentford and with the Spaniard’s current deal running out in 2024, Spurs view him as a ‘cost-effective’ option.

Gold reveals that Sanchez is represented by CAA Stellar, an agency with close ties to Tottenham, with Ben Davies and Joe Rodon on their books, which could make a deal for the Brighton man easier for the North London club.

With respect to Maignan, he suggests that the Spurs have been monitoring his progress from his time at Lille. Apart from these four goalkeepers, Gold adds that Tottenham have also looked at Emiliano Martinez, Jan Oblak, Dean Henderson and Jordan Pickford over recent seasons.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Pickford would have been Tottenham’s preferred option if he was available but he now looks set to sign a new contract with Everton.

We have not seen too much speculation linking Mamardashvili with a move to Spurs over recent months but the 22-year-old would certainly tick a lot of boxes for the North London club, and could potentially be eased into the starting eleven over the course of next season.
