Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Ange Postecoglou has made Brennan Johnson his number-one attacking target for the final few days of the transfer window.
Over the weekend, we relayed a report from The Telegraph which claimed that Spurs were ready to begin talks with Nottingham Forest over a deal for Johnson, with the North London club said to be keen on securing the 22-year-old’s services before the transfer deadline.
It was alleged that while Forest valued the versatile attacker at £50m, Spurs were trying to get a deal agreed for £40m plus add-ons.
The report added that the Lilywhites were also willing to propose player plus cash offers to sign the Welshman, naming Davinson Sanchez and Bryan Gil as players who could be included in the deal.
Postecoglou is keen on Spurs signing Johnson
Gold has now taken to social media to state that it is Postecoglou who is driving Tottenham’s interest in Johnson, with the journalist stating that the Australian views the Forest star as a ‘perfect fit’ for his system.
Gold added that Postecoglou also likes the youngster’s versatility but he warned that a deal is a ‘tough’ one for Spurs to do and could drag on until quite late in the window.
Understand Ange Postecoglou has made Brennan Johnson his number one attacking target for these final days of the window. Feels he's the perfect fit for his Spurs system and versatile. Talks have taken place, tough deal to do though and it's likely to be a late one if it happens.

Spurs Web Opinion
I suspect Postecoglou sees Johnson as a player who can play across the front three while also being able to cover for James Maddison in the number eight role. The Australian might fancy his chances of getting the best out of the 22-year-old and moulding him into a finished product.
