Spurs are on the lookout for central defensive reinforcements this summer and it appears they have already got their eye on a few transfer targets.

Alasdair Gold reports that Stuttgart’s Hiroki Ito and Nottingham Forest’s Murillo are two centre-backs Spurs have scouted so far, but they are just two names among ‘a number of potential centre-back options this summer’.

Tottenham already have the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven and new recruit Radu Dragusin within their centre-back ranks, but Japhet Tanganga also left the club this summer.

Interestingly, centre-backs are seemingly not a top priority for Tottenham this summer though, with Gold adding that Spurs will only move for a defender once positions further up the pitch have been filled.

This comes after Football Insider reported today that Fabio Paratici is working on four new signings behind the scenes at Spurs – a centre-back, a full-back, another forward, and a new central midfielder.

If Football London are to be believed, it appears the centre-back may be the last thing to be crossed off on that wishlist this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

The way I see it, Tottenham have a starting right-centre-back in Cristian Romero and a starting left-centre-back in Micky Van de Ven.

Radu Dragusin is effectively Romero’s replacement and so Spurs need another back-up who is comfortable on the left side to replace Van de Ven when needed.
