Alasdair Gold offers verdict on Eder Militao to Tottenham rumours

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has claimed that there is no substance to the rumours linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Real Madrid centre-back Eder Militao this month.

Militao was rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar during the previous transfer window but the central defender ended up remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He has had an extremely disappointing season so far, having made just three appearances for Los Blancos during the current campaign in all competitions (transfermarkt).

AS claimed last week that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Brazilian and wants to take him to North London to bolster his options at centre-back, while Defensa Central suggested that the 22-year-old could be allowed to join Spurs on loan until the end of the season.

However, Gold has now poured cold water over those reports, insisting that Tottenham are not showing interest in Militao at this present time.

The journalist also added that signing the Real Madrid man would be difficult without moving some players on, due to Tottenham’s troubles in meeting the homegrown criteria.

Spurs Web Opinion

Militao is a talented young defender but like Rodon and Tanganga, he is still unproven at the top level. I suspect Jose will want to bring in a seasoned campaigner to add some experience and leadership to our backline.
