Alasdair Gold on what he has heard about Spurs interest in Hincapie and Skriniar

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to make moves for either Piero Hincapie or Milan Skriniar before the January window slams shut.

Spurs announced their capture of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal last week, with the Dutchman netting his first goal on his debut against Preston on Saturday.

Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel on Friday that Spurs could make a surprise signing before deadline day while Bild revealed yesterday that the Lilywhites had launched a verbal offer of €25m (£21.9m) for Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.

Journalist Santi Aouna claimed over the weekend that an unnamed English club had submitted an offer for Milan Skriniar, which also got some Spurs fans excited.

However, Gold has now explained that while Tottenham are continuing to monitor the market for late opportunities, there is no guarantee they will pull off a surprise signing.

The journalist added that those within the club have distanced themselves from a move for Skrinair. He also revealed that while Hincapie is on Spurs’ radar, a summer deal is more likely for the 21-year-old as Bayer Leverkusen do not intend to sell him right now.

Spurs Web Opinion

If there is one player that I can see Spurs making a late offer for, it is Nicolo Zaniolo, particularly now that it has become clear that he has been frozen out at Roma. If both Bryan Gil and Lucas Moura are offloaded over the coming days, I can see us testing the waters with another bid for the Italy international.
