Alasdair Gold – One Spurs star was continuously having a go at Klopp in Liverpool match

Alasdair Gold has revealed that there was no love lost between Richarlison and Jurgen Klopp on Saturday, with the duo having a go at one another on multiple occasions through the 90 minutes.

It was a high-octane affair on Saturday, with plenty of challenges flying in from both sides, and the away side receiving a total of seven yellow cards and two reds.

Emotions were running high among both sets of players, particularly given some of the controversial decisions that were made.

Richarlison, who delivered a typically battling display and set up Son Heung-min’s opener, was unsurprisingly in the thick of some of the altercations.

Gold revealed that the 26-year-old and Klopp engaged in multiple arguments and repeatedly gesticulated at each other, including after Curtis Jones’ sending-off.

There is no love lost between Richarlison and Klopp

The journalist explained that Ange Posteocoglou had to intervene at one point to ensure that the striker did not get into any trouble.

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “One player who was certainly not feeling sorry for Liverpool’s rotten luck was Richarlison. I don’t know if it was the Everton background in him but my goodness was he going at [Jurgen] Klopp.

“One moment in the first half after an innocuous foul, he and Klopp were just going back and forth. And Richarlison kind of turned to him and just started going, ‘Yeah, yeah’, as if to say, yeah whatever mate.

“And then after the Curtis Jones red card, Richarlison said something again and came over and was having a pop back and forth at Klopp again and [Ange] Postecoglou very quickly told him to get away.

“As if to say, don’t get to say don’t get yourself drawn into something stupid that you end up getting disciplined for as well. Ultimately I guess Richarlison had the last laugh.”

Klopp has a history of trying to put pressure on the officials in an effort to influence the decisions. Given that Ange is not the sort of person to engage his counterpart, it is perhaps not a bad thing that Richarlison stood up to the Liverpool boss.
