Alasdair Gold plays down speculation Spurs could move for England international

Alasdair Gold has played down speculation that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady, in an article for Football.London.

Football Insider reported yesterday that Tottenham were prepared to go head to head with Everton to land the England international this summer.

Rumours linking Coady with a move to North London have only surfaced since his former manager Nuno Espirito Santo took over as head coach at Tottenham earlier this week.

Tottenham are said to be on the lookout for a defensive leader this summer to bolster their centre-back options with the club’s most experienced defender, Toby Alderweireld wishing to depart this summer.

Gold claimed that Coady, who only signed a new five-year deal at Molineux last summer would be considered to be too expensive for Tottenham.

While Coady is one of Wolves’ best players, I would much prefer to see Spurs make a move for the likes of Milan Skriniar or Joachim Andersen.
