Alasdair Gold predicts how Tottenham could line up against Leicester with COVID absentees

Alasdair Gold has given his prediction for how Tottenham will line up for their Premier League encounter against Leicester tonight.

The trip to the King Power Stadium serves as a return to action for Tottenham, who have been dormant for a week-and-a-half after suffering a COVID outbreak throughout the squad.

Up to eight Spurs players were said to have tested positive last week and although some have made a return to training, a question mark lingers on their fitness and readiness to face the Foxes.

Spurs have also had to deal with a small outbreak in the U23 side over the last week which caused the entire squad to be sent home from training.

With that being said, Gold believes Antonio Conte will continue to deploy his favoured 3-4-3 formation, with regular starters Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Harry Kane making up part of the XI.

With the fitness of Sergio Reguilon up in the air, the Football.London correspondent expects Ryan Sessegnon to come in at wing-back as he did when he replaced the Spaniard against Norwich, with Matt Doherty filling in on the opposite flank.

Gold also predicts Japhet Tanganga to slot in place of the in-form Ben Davies, while a midfield tandem of Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele could be deployed – highlighting the club’s issues at present.

He also expects Spurs talisman Kane to be flanked by Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli in a makeshift trio with the likely absences of tricky wingers Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura.

The line-up isn’t ideal in the slightest, but it is the best that Spurs can put out given the circumstances. However, Leicester also have problems of their own, so the match could go either way on the night.
