Alasdair Gold provides an update on Cristian Romero’s recovery

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham will monitor Cristian Romero over the next few days before deciding whether the Argentine can take to the field against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Romero missed Saturday’s clash against Wolves with an adductor injury, with Davinson Sanchez filling in for the 24-year-old and putting in a solid display as the Lilywhites emerged 1-0 winners courtesy of a second-half header from Harry Kane.

Gold has now explained that despite the injury, Romero offered to play against Wolves but Conte decided not to take the risk. The former Atalanta man is still not thought to be back in training as he continues receiving treatment for the injury.

Gold stated that Spurs will monitor how Romero’s injury reacts to the recovery process over the next few days before deciding whether he can return to full training.

The journalist added that the defender is keen on keen on featuring against Forest, but Conte will listen to the player as well as the medical department before making a final decision ahead of the game.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Sanchez has proven to be an able deputy whenever he has stepped in for Romero, I do not think Conte will want to risk rushing Romero back. I would not be surprised if the Argentine sits out next weekend’s clash and returns for the London derby against West Ham.
