Alasdair Gold provides exciting update on Spurs’ hopes for Maddison return

Alasdair Gold has reported that Tottenham hope to have James Maddison back in time to play some part in the three fixtures following the mid-season winter break.

After earning a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, a match in which Spurs missed Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Giovani Lo Celso in the creative midfield role, the Lilywhites do not play again until January 26.

A clash against Man City in the FA Cup is followed by Brentford at home and Everton away in the Premier League on January 31 and February 3 respectively.

James Maddison is nearing a Tottenham return

That gives Tottenham a nice window of opportunity to get the likes of James Maddison back fit, while allowing Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven to get back up to speed in training.

Alasdair Gold claims that Spurs hope Maddison can play a part in ‘some, if not all’ of those three matches at the end of the winter break, which will be a huge boost to Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Of course, you want to ease Maddison back into things so I don’t think he will be starting all three of those matches. But if you can a couple of games out of him to boost Tottenham’s chances in the League and FA Cup, that would be incredible.
