Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were left wondering about the whereabouts of Tanguy Ndombele following yesterday’s match against Colchester United.
The Frenchman has been spotted taking part in pre-season training as recently as July 13th but has not featured in the two outings against Leyton Orient and Colchester.
Writing for Football.London, Alasdair Gold has revealed that the 24-year-old has recently become a father for the first time.
Ndombele had a difficult start to life at Tottenham with Mauricio Pochettino having been sacked a number of weeks following his arrival and found himself singled out for public criticism by Jose Mourinho following his first-half performance at Burnley in March of last year (Independent).
The midfielder admitted that he wanted to leave Tottenham within a year of making a club record move but chairman Daniel Levy made it clear how much he wanted to keep him in North London (Football.London).
The upcoming season is pivotal for Ndombele to start to prove that he can be an influential player for Spurs week in, week out.
We have seen flashes of brilliance from the Frenchman but are still waiting for him to turn on the style on a regular basis. Hopefully, the focus that Nuno has on fitness will also help the former Lyon man, who often looked tired after the hour-mark in matches under Mourinho.
