Alasdair Gold provides positive update on Spurs’ Bastoni pursuit – Just one problem

Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham believe they will be able to strike a deal with Inter Milan for the transfer of Alessandro Bastoni.

Over the last week, multiple publications have claimed that Bastoni is Antonio Conte’s top target for the left centre-back role this summer (The Athletic).

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that the centre-back has reservations about leaving Inter to join Spurs and the North London club would have to convince him to make the move.

However, the report did add that the Inter were close to completing a deal for Torino’s Gleison Bremer and the Serie A club might need to cash in on Bastoni to balance the books.

Gold subsequently revealed on Football.London that Bastoni is keen to play under Conte again but the 23-year-old’s future might depend on how desperate the Nerazzurri are to cash in on him.

The journalist has now provided another update on Spurs’ pursuit of the Inter star, stating that the Lilywhites are confident of agreeing on a fee for the Italian international and sorting out his wages.

Gold said on his YouTube Channel (starting at 15:16): “Tottenham believe that they’ll be able to sort out wages and the fee for Bastoni. I don’t think they see that as an issue. The only issue right now is Bastoni himself believing it’s the right point in his career to come to the Premier League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on various reports over recent days, it seems like Spurs are still very much focused on Bastoni and are not prepared to shift their attention to alternatives just yet. Now that Spurs have Perisic in the bag, it sounds like the Inter star and Djed Spence are the next two signings that the club are prioritising.
