Alasdair Gold has revealed that Djed Spence is open to making a permanent switch to Genoa this summer on the back of his loan spell at the club.

Spence arrived at Tottenham two years ago from Middlesbrough with plenty of promise but things have not worked out for the right-back at the North London club and the speculation linking him with a permanent switch to Genoa is now gathering steam.
Djed Spence spent the second half of last season on loan at Genoa
At the start of last week, Calciomercato reported that Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez had travelled to London to strike a deal with Spurs regarding the defender.
The outlet explained that the Serie A side did not want to meet the €10m (£8.5m) option to buy Spence in the loan agreement and were looking to sign the player on a discount.
It was explained that Blazquez is hopeful about agreeing to such a deal since he has a good relationship with Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy.
A few days ago, Fabrizio Romano took to social media to reveal that the talks between Genoa and Spurs over Spence are now ‘advancing’, adding that the deal could be finalised before the end of this month.

Djed Spence is open to a permanent transfer to Genoa
Gold has now reported something similar, revealing that the Tottenham player enjoyed his time at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium and is in favour of the move.
The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “Genoa are willing to get some kind of agreement there. They don’t want to pay the £8.5m that was agreed in the option.
“From what I understand Djed would be open to going back there as well. He quite enjoyed his time at Genoa, and it was a good moment for him in his career.”

All indications are that all three parties want the deal to go through, with Spence seemingly not in Ange Postecoglou’s plans. I would expect this transfer to be finalised quite swiftly when the window opens.
Spence’s move to Tottenham has been nothing short of a disaster and after an equally bad loan at Leeds, he looks to have found his home in Genoa.
