Alasdair Gold provides update on Christian Eriksen and Spurs amidst PL return rumours

Alasdair Gold has poured cold water on any chances of Tottenham Hotspur re-signing former star, Christian Eriksen in January.

The Dane reached an agreement with Inter Milan to terminate his contract last month and proceeded to train alone at Chiasso in Switzerland.

Eriksen infamously collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 match against Finland in the summer of 2021 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The former Spurs star has openly admitted that he is targeting a return to action with Denmark at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Reports claim that Eriksen wants to start training with a top-flight club in January, following interest from clubs in Denmark, the Netherlands, and England now that he is available on a free transfer.

In fact, The Times reported this week that Eriksen is close to a return to the Premier League with an unnamed club.

However, despite Eriksen having starred for Spurs and played under Conte at Inter Milan, Gold claims the Lilywhites are not believed to be one of the sides looking to bring him back to England.

He said: ‘One free transfer on the market is former Spurs man Christian Eriksen, but the north London club are not – at this stage – believed to be one of the sides looking to bring the Dane back to the Premier League following his release from Inter Milan.’

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m not sure that the Premier League is the best level for Eriksen to return to, given how demanding and intense it is. Perhaps he would be better suited going back to the Eredivise or to Denmark for now.
