Alasdair Gold provides update on Cristian Romero injury situation at Spurs

Alasdair Gold from Football London has reported that Argentine defender, Cristian Romero, is set to return to Tottenham on Thursday and will undergo a scan upon his arrival.

Romero had to be substituted in the 53rd minute of Argentina’s 0-0 draw against Brazil during the international break after he went down holding his leg.

While the centre-back initially played on with the injury, he was forced to take a seat on the turf and leave the action early just minutes later.

Gold has revealed that the first thing Romero will do upon returning to Hotspur Way this evening is undergo a scan in order to give Tottenham some more information.

The extent of the injury will then be determined and Spurs should know how long the defender will be out for, with Leeds United coming up on Sunday in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I can’t see this being an immediate fix and I expect Romero to be out for at least a couple of weeks. This is a huge blow as he has been one of the shining lights so far this season and looks as though he could thrive in a back three under Conte.
