Alasdair Gold provides update on Heung-min Son’s contract situation

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Son Heung-min is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract at Tottenham before the start of next season.

Multiple sources have previously claimed (Eurosport and Telegraph) that Son is close to reaching an agreement with the club over a new deal.

While the South Korean chose to remain coy when asked about the matter, Jose Mourinho has expressed his confidence that an agreement will be reached.

There were reports last week suggesting that the 28-year-old could be targetted by Bayern Munich in the summer but some sources from Germany rubbished the speculation.

Gold has now revealed that Son is happy at Spurs and wishes to stay at the club. He claimed that the reason that confirmation of a new contract has been delayed is due to the uncertainty over when the club’s income streams would return to normal.

Gold also added that the only thing that could throw a spammer in the works is if Spurs receive an unexpected mega offer that could turn both the player and club’s head, but that is deemed to be unlikely this summer.

The fact that we have not heard much speculation over Son’s future despite the South Korean only having two years to run on his contract, suggests that he is close to agreeing on a new deal. If the forward wished to leave or is unsure about signing a new deal, his representatives would have likely fed some rumours to the press.
