Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Josko Gvardiol is happy to remain at RB Leipzig despite attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Gold claims that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici’s top centre-back target this summer is Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni but he explains that Spurs ‘will need’ to sign another central defender this summer.
This is because Joe Rodon is expected to leave in search of regular football while Conte is expected to make a final decision on Japhet Tanganga after having another close look at him during pre-season.
The journalist suggests that the Lilywhites are thus looking for other centre-back options apart from Bastoni, with the club alleged to be ‘big admirers’ of Gvardiol.
However, Gold explains that a deal for the Croat will prove difficult as he is contracted to Leipzig until 2026 and happy at the Red Bull Arena.

I suspect that Paratici is eyeing Gvardiol as a backup option in case the deal for Bastoni does not go through.
If we land Bastoni, it would not make much sense to pursue another left-sided centre-back such as the Croat.
Someone like Gleison Bremer, who can play across the back three, would be a better replacement for Rodon and Sanchez.
