Alasdair Gold provides update on potential late Serge Aurier transfer

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Serge Aurier believes he is on his way out of Tottenham this summer, with the defender’s agent having lined up a move.

Aurier, 28, has been looking for a way out of the north London club throughout the transfer window. The club have also been actively looking to sell the Ivorian, but have been unsuccessful in their attempts so far.

The defender is yet to feature in any of Spurs’ three games so far this season, with Nuno Espirito Santo electing to use Japhet Tanganga and Matt Doherty ahead of him.

However, Aurier appears to be moving a step closer to his wish being granted, with football.london correspondent Gold revealing that a transfer is not far away.

The journalist claimed Spurs are ready to receive a bid for the right-back, but he hopes Daniel Levy will not be forced into taking a reduced fee with the transfer deadline fast approaching.

Gold said on his YouTube channel: “There seems to be a belief from Aurier and I’m told his agent as well that they have something ready for him.

“I just hope it’s not going to be a last-minute, ‘here’s my bid for Aurier, you’ve got to take it now otherwise you’ll have nothing’.”

Spurs have less than a week remaining to get a potential transfer over the line, with the transfer window slamming shut at 11 pm on Tuesday, August 31.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs have to ensure they receive a relatively healthy figure for Aurier, as his contract is set to expire in June 2022. Levy is a tough negotiator, and he will no doubt receive a fee good enough to help the team.

But, he mustn’t stand still and he needs to make sure the figure gathered from Aurier’s potential sale is reinvested back into the team to supplement the squad’s depth.
